A rare concoction of style, elegance and majestic beauty is the definition that could aptly describe a Jaamdani Saree. The beautiful artistry that is present in the saree is continued in some of the major artistic hubs of Bengal. These sarees are produced in Bengal. Therefore, the government there is trying hard to revive this industry by providing better resources to the craftsmen who weave these sarees. This very saree is a representation of the importance of muslin trade that was very much in force during the 14th century. The word Jaamdani is an amalgamation of two Persian words namely “Jam” and “Dani” which mean a flower and a vase respectively.  Therefore, the very name of this saree is a testimony to the intricacies that are involved in the minute designs that are hand woven on this saree. The name has its rich lineage and heritage from the Mughal durbars where the word Jaamdani gained popularity on account of the rich floral ethos that is attained from the designers who weaved the sarees.
